Part of a documentary named Inside the Sarcophagus (from 1991) on Youtube. A bit outdated, but fascinating stuff.

@Edvin: I'm gonna watch it over the weekend. Thanks.

habrinI remember how people older than 22 at that time was affraid to be called to the defence ministrty, because everyone knew that they will be sent directly to chernobil...

@Tarlan: Wow. Were you over 22 at the time? I thought they were all brave volunteers.

Noup, I was only 11 but I remember women crying on the streets when their husbands, sons and fathers was received this small pieces of papers from defense ministry which seeing that beneficiary of this must appear within 24 hours to the assembly point… And don’t forget that Azerbaijan was thousands miles away from Ukraina and Chernobil, so you can imagine how many people from all around USSR was involved in this action!

@Tarlan: We're about the same age. It's so weird and wonderful. Back then, I could never imagine that in 2011, in the future, I would be sharing memories of Chernobyl with an ex-Soviet citizen. Thank you for sharing!

Hope our children after 20 years will not share similar memories about 2011 :) Inshallah!
