Mold-A-Rama

This is another neat find at the Henry Ford Museum.  It had two 1960s Mold-A-Ramas.  You put money in, and watch a plastic figurine get made before your very eyes.  Be careful, it's hot.

They have these in scattered about the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.

I went back recently and the smell of that hot plastic and the memories it brought back were nearly overwhelming. Maybe my favorite place on earth, if you ever go you cannot miss it.

@Alan: Coincidence. My bro-in-law's fiance worked at the Field Museum and she said there aren't that many of these around because they're nearly impossible to fix. But for some reason, the survivors are nearly all in the Chicagoland area.

Interesting.

They were there when my parents were children, hopefully they'll be their for my future kids to see.

One of the reasons I'm so nostalgic for home is the oldness of things there... it's late in the day of my 10 hour graveyard shift and I'm not at all descriptive right now to convey what I mean, but I think you'll understand as an avid traveler.

The Field Museum is also amazing, but they don't have a captured WW11 U-boat, working coal mine, Mercury space capsules or a jumbo jet hanging from the ceiling.

I remember one of these on Miami's Seaquarium in 1998. My sister bought a manatee... or was it a seahorse? I will ask her, maybe the thing is still kept somewhere...
